Engines and sign-in

Understand the role of an engine, connect an account and check whether a provider is ready.

Agent instructions and engine are different

An agent holds its role and instructions. The engine supplies the model and the way a turn runs. Engine choice can change sign-in, tool support, limits and approval behavior, so a model name alone does not describe what the agent can do.

Connect an available account

  1. Open engine settings in the workspace.
  2. Choose an engine that is available in your current environment.
  3. Follow the provider sign-in flow, then check that the workspace reports the engine as ready.
  4. Choose a model the engine lists and run a small task before relying on it.

If an engine is unavailable

A missing executable, signed-out account, unsupported model or provider limit can prevent a turn from starting. Read the status shown in the workspace and follow its next step. Do not assume that every engine listed on a product page is enabled for your account.
