Guide
Memory or skill: where should context go?
Decide what to save as memory and what belongs in a repeatable skill.
Use memory for durable context
A project name, writing preference or reporting convention can belong in memory. Review the saved wording so a tentative statement does not become a permanent rule. Memory should remain small enough to understand and correct.
Use skills for a method
A release checklist or research process belongs in a skill. Write down required inputs, steps, expected output and stopping conditions. A skill explains how to do a kind of work; memory explains relevant context for this user or project.
Keep both current
Inspect memory and skill changes after a successful task. Remove obsolete assumptions. Do not save credentials in either. If a method depends on changing external facts, require the agent to verify those facts each time.
