What does agentic AI mean?
A plain-language definition of agentic AI and how to evaluate a workflow.
A way to organize work
Agentic AI usually means a system uses a model to choose or sequence actions toward a goal. The amount of autonomy varies. One workflow may suggest a plan; another may call tools repeatedly and pause only when a decision needs human approval.
Look past the label
Ask what the system can read, what it can change and how it knows when to stop. A useful product should make failure and uncertainty visible. A long chain of tool calls is not evidence that the outcome is correct.
Put a boundary around the job
Define a small scope, success criteria and an approval point. For a content task, allow reading sources and drafting a file, then require review before publication. This makes the workflow easier to test and easier to trust for the next task.
