Suparagent vs OpenClaw
OpenClaw is an open-source assistant with local and remote gateway setups, desktop companions, deployment options and messaging channels. Suparagent is a browser workspace. The central tradeoff is infrastructure ownership versus a web-based agent workspace.
Who operates the runtime?
OpenClaw gives technically comfortable users choices about where its gateway runs. The operator is responsible for installation, updates, uptime, network exposure, credentials and backups. Read the deployment guide before exposing a gateway and plan how to rotate credentials or recover state. Suparagent does not ask the user to install a gateway for its browser workspace, but it requires user-supplied sandbox and AI accounts.
Example: a team messaging assistant
With OpenClaw, install the gateway on a maintained machine or server and connect a supported channel. Test restarts, channel permissions and update behavior before relying on it. With Suparagent, create named agents and a shared room for recurring checks; verify the desired messaging route exists rather than assuming identical channel support.
Pick the operational model
Choose OpenClaw when self-management and channel reach are priorities. Choose Suparagent when a browser interface and organized agent rooms better fit. Review data paths and permissions in both. Suparagent’s long-running qualification remains pending.
A useful first test is to restart the host and confirm the assistant recovers without losing channel configuration. Check logs and access from another device before connecting personal messaging or work accounts.
