Claude Code vs Google Antigravity

Claude Code is Anthropic’s coding agent. Google describes Antigravity as an agent-first development platform with an AI-powered editor and an agent workspace that can coordinate editor, terminal and browser work. The choice is about development surface and delegation style, not guaranteed code quality.

Terminal agent or agent-first IDE

Claude Code is a candidate for teams that want a codebase-aware agent integrated into terminal-centered tasks and supported editor workflows. Antigravity offers an editor view for hands-on coding and an agent view for multi-step work. Google’s introduction highlights agents working across editor, terminal and browser, which may matter when visual verification is part of development.

Example: implement a settings page

Give each product the same request in a small app. Ask for the page, a test run and browser verification evidence. In Antigravity, inspect how its agent coordinates editor, terminal and browser. In Claude Code, inspect the commands and artifacts returned through your chosen interface. Compare changes, tests, permission prompts and recovery from a bad edit.

Make the decision with a real task

Choose the tool that fits your team’s work surface and presents evidence clearly. Verify current OS, model, access and permission support in Anthropic and Google docs. Human review remains necessary for code changes and test claims.

If browser checks matter, define a visible acceptance condition such as a page state or interaction. Ask each product to show the evidence it gathered, then reproduce the check manually before treating the feature as verified.
